Islam a Religion for Peace.

Introduction to Islam. Let Baba Ali Explains:

Quotations: "The Messenger of Allah said:"

"If anyone harms (others), God will harm him, and if anyone shows hostility to others, God will show hostility to him." Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 1625.
"Those who believe in the Qu'ran, and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians
(scriptures)...and (all) who believe in God and the last day and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." The Qur'an, 2:62
"The best jihad [struggle] is (by) the one who strives against his own self for Allah, The Mighty, and Majestic," by the Prophet Muhammad.

A quick overview of Islam.
Islam is a monotheistic, Abrahamic religion. The root of Islam means submission and total surrender to God. Followers of Islam are Muslims, and their teachings are in the Qur'an.
The "Five Pillars of Islam"; Faith, Prayers, Giving of Alms (charity), Fasting, and Pilgrimage to Mecca. These are the duties of all Muslims.

Islamic denomination:
With over 1.3 billion Muslims, Islam is the 2nd largest religion in the world and the fastest growing. Islam has two significant denominations; Sunni (85%) and Shi'a (15%). Islam is mainly in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, China, Russia, and the Balkans.

The six main Books consulted by Muslims:
• The Qur'an translated recitation is God's literal words in their original Arabic language. Muslims believe that it was dictated to Muhammad by the archangel Jibril over 23 years.
• The Suhuf-i-Ibrahim (Scrolls of Abraham/Ibrahim)
• The Tawrat (a.k.a Tawrah or Taurat) This is the Pentateuch, the first five books from the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament).
• The Zabur Psalm Hebrew Scriptures. According to the Qur'an, the Zabur was revealed to David when he was king of Israel.
• The Injil. The Entire Gospels, the words of Jesus.
• The Hadith, collections of Muhammad's saying. They are regarded as the Sunnah (lived example) of Muhammad.

Islam has six fundamental beliefs:
• A single, indivisible God. "Allah." The Arabic word for God.
• The angels.
• The divine scriptures.
• The Messengers of God, including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, and Muhammad, the final, universal message for all of humanity.
• The Day of Judgment.
• The supremacy of God's will.

Other beliefs include:
• God did not have a son.
• Jesus is a prophet born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus to be God is blasphemous; it is seen as polytheism.
• Jesus was not executed on the cross. He escaped crucifixion and was taken up into Paradise.
• The existence of Satan.
• Redemption.
• All people are considered children of Adam. Islam officially rejects racism.
• All children are born pure and in a natural state of submission to Islam.
• Alcohol, drugs, pork, gambling, etc.........…are sins.

The media has historically disseminated a very negative image of Islam. Its reports and focus are on the beliefs and practices of the most conservative wing of the religion. Looking back, we will discover injustice, genocide, and massacre of entirely innocent civilians in the name of Jesus or Abraham. Should the world judge Christianity based on the atrocities committed during the Inquisition, the acts of the KKK, Timothy McVeigh, Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Judaism on Meir Kahane's actions? Absolutely not. Then why do those eyes let the public believe that Osama bin Laden and Mullah Muhammad Omar defines Islam?

Martin Luther King and equal rights, what have we done since?

Would you have the courage to enter a segregated dinner, sit at the counter, and order? Would you volunteer to be a freedom rider and travel to the South to test the new laws and face angry mobs? Would you march and be ready to die facing an open bigot City Hall and police department? What have we done with the rights handed to us? Would you die for your beliefs like 37 -years-old NAACP field secretary Medgar Evers , murdered outside his Mississippi home, or like the 3 young students ( James E. Chaney, 21; Andrew Goodman, 21; and Michael Schwerner , 24 ) who had been working to register black voters in Mississippi . We are under the impression that slavery and segregation have been abolished.  Is it? Today's Urban Cities are the new social and economic face of segregation. It is another way to separate those who have from those who have not. The new slavery is the hopelessness of the urban youth, the separation between poor urban public education and everywhere else.  What...

2012 Mayan Calendar 'Doomsday' Date Might Be Wrong

This article should get some of us more rational regarding the big hype about 2012, Planet X, and Doomsday... being reasonable is the hardest thing to do when overcome with extreme feelings of fear, despair, or even rapture. So open your mind to the idea that it could all be a spook, and we will all laugh about it on December 22, 2012. Otherwise, would you want to be the one to clean up the mess that Doomsday will leave behind? Would you want to survive Doomsday? Leave your comment: The Mayans Never Predicted the Doomsday Before continuing, it's worth emphasizing that this mesoamerican calendar (used by several cultures -- including the Maya -- in Central and South America before European colonization) does not predict an apocalypse. It never did, despite what the movie "2012" told us . The Mayan civilization existed from 250-900 A.D. in the current geographical location of southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador,  and some of Honduras. Archaeologists...
