The Road to Guantanamo. A documentary: See behind the veil.

On December 10, 1948, The General assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the full text appears in the following pages if you follow the link below. Following this historic act, the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories."

  • Article8.

  • Article 9.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention, or exile.

These are just a few articles to separate Society from mad anarchic. The United State Government has endowed itself with the mother of Liberty, Justice, and Freedom for All.

Then what happened in Guantanamo:

Watching documentaries of WWII of the camps, we asked ourselves how the German people could have been blind and unaware of the atrocities perpetrated on the Jews. Well, when a government is left unchecked and feeds our fears with well-targeted propaganda when our patriotism is left in question when the media are censured, we, the people, are hurdled like sheep toward a mass lobotomy where our commune sense has been extracted. Like zombies, we accept the word of our leaders, talking of weapons of mass destruction that never existed, engaging in a war in which we should have never evolved.

Since 2003, Osama Bin Laden is still roaming free, North Korea has the power to create its own Nuclear bomb, and Pakistan and Afghanistan kill our young men and women with weapons and training our intelligence has provided.

The Road to Guantanamo is one piece of the puzzle showing how we have lost our ways. The truth is out ... we have seen the pictures... the Bush administration has been ousted with billions of war profiteering while today losing our jobs, homes, and dreams... We are a Democratic country, our constitution is the best civil constitution in the world, and our government does not torture, humiliate, or insult prisoner...   one is innocent until proven guilty...
Mr. Bush says of Guantanamo prisoners:  " The only thing I know for certain is that these are ad people, and we look forward to working closely with the Blair government to deal with the issue" in this documentary, the American military may be the film's great villain, but Mr. Winterbottom director of the movie makes it clear that the Blair government is complicit.
The human rights abuses at Guantanamo bay highlighted widespread criticism by Amnesty International, which referred to the prison as "the gulag"  world leaders, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, stated that "An institution like Guantanamo in its present form cannot and must not exist in the long term."

And still, no one has yet to be accountable...

I hope they can enforce this. Torture is a disgrace and a blight on the human race.

The image of the man hung by his hands is actually a torture scene from East Timor with Indonesian military personnel who tortured, raped and murdered tens of thousands of East Timorese during the illegal occupation 1975-1999. East Timor Law and Justice Bulletin http://easttimorlegal.blogspot.com

Martin Luther King and equal rights, what have we done since?

Would you have the courage to enter a segregated dinner, sit at the counter, and order? Would you volunteer to be a freedom rider and travel to the South to test the new laws and face angry mobs? Would you march and be ready to die facing an open bigot City Hall and police department? What have we done with the rights handed to us? Would you die for your beliefs like 37 -years-old NAACP field secretary Medgar Evers , murdered outside his Mississippi home, or like the 3 young students ( James E. Chaney, 21; Andrew Goodman, 21; and Michael Schwerner , 24 ) who had been working to register black voters in Mississippi . We are under the impression that slavery and segregation have been abolished.  Is it? Today's Urban Cities are the new social and economic face of segregation. It is another way to separate those who have from those who have not. The new slavery is the hopelessness of the urban youth, the separation between poor urban public education and everywhere else.  What...

2012 Mayan Calendar 'Doomsday' Date Might Be Wrong

This article should get some of us more rational regarding the big hype about 2012, Planet X, and Doomsday... being reasonable is the hardest thing to do when overcome with extreme feelings of fear, despair, or even rapture. So open your mind to the idea that it could all be a spook, and we will all laugh about it on December 22, 2012. Otherwise, would you want to be the one to clean up the mess that Doomsday will leave behind? Would you want to survive Doomsday? Leave your comment: The Mayans Never Predicted the Doomsday Before continuing, it's worth emphasizing that this mesoamerican calendar (used by several cultures -- including the Maya -- in Central and South America before European colonization) does not predict an apocalypse. It never did, despite what the movie "2012" told us . The Mayan civilization existed from 250-900 A.D. in the current geographical location of southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador,  and some of Honduras. Archaeologists...
